Frank Broekmans, MD, PhD, is currently Professor in Reproductive Endocrinology and Surgery at the University Medical Center Utrecht. He is the Head of the Department of Reproductive Medicine and chairman of the Dutch-Flemish Society for Fertility Studies. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the VU Medical Center Amsterdam in 1983, became consultant OBGYN in 1990, completed a Fellowship in Reproductive Medicine at the VU Medical Center Amsterdam in 1993, and received his PhD degree in 1995.
His scientific career has been devoted to the field of female reproductive ageing. His main research interests are ovarian ageing and dysfunction, as well as methods of testing ovarian reserve including the use of anti-Müllerian hormone, inhibin B, and antral follicle count.
He has held an Associate Editorship for Human Reproduction between 2006 and 2009 and has published over 130 peer-reviewed scientific papers, contributed 20 book chapters and presented over 75 invited lectures at international meetings.
