Dr Mike Pankhurst began his career researching the role of trace metal scavengers in brain injury (University of Tasmania) followed by the role of testicular hormones on male brain development. Dr Pankhurst’s recent studies have investigated the role of anti-Müllerian hormone in ovary function, at the University of Otago, New Zealand. Current projects in the research group include examination of preantral follicle development and atresia, the effects of ovarian reserve on fertility and the mechanisms that either select ovarian follicles for ovulation or divert them towards atresia.
