Prof Iain Clarke graduated with B. Agric. Sci (1971) and M. Agric. Sci (1973) from Massey University (NZ) and with a PhD (Edin, Scotland) in 1977. He received a Post-Doctoral Fellowship from the Aust Wool Corp and began working on clover disease in sheep at University of Melbourne. He moved to Prince Henry’s Institute of Medical Research in 1979 and embarked on his career in neuroendocrinology. He is best known for his models to measure the secretion and action of GnRH, which received considerable international acclaim. His neuroendocrine studies expanded to include work on the central control of stress, lactation, growth, appetite and energy expenditure. He rose to the top of the NHMRC Fellowship scheme and was then appointed to the position of Chairman of the Dept Physiology, Monash (2007-2017). He has published over 500 papers in the field of neuroendocrinology
